Husky 1050 Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps Information

Husky 1050 Series — 1" Diaphragm Pumps

Air‑Operated, Electric Air‑Charged, and High‑Pressure

Overview

The Husky 1050 Series is a 1" diaphragm pump platform available in pneumatic, electric air‑charged, and high‑pressure 2:1 configurations. All models share a common fluid section design with broad material compatibility, smooth low‑pulsation operation, and reliable performance for chemical transfer, coatings, solvents, wastewater, and general industrial fluids. The platform supports self‑priming, dry‑run capability, and solids handling up to 1/8 in (3.2 mm), making it suitable for a wide range of plant and process applications.

Performance & Reliability

The pneumatic 1050 uses a stall‑free, low‑pulsation modular air valve with a one‑piece center section that reduces leak paths and maintenance. The electric 1050e uses an air‑charged drive to reduce pulsation without external dampeners while improving diaphragm life and providing precise speed control for metering. The 1050HP incorporates a selectable low‑pressure/high‑pressure mode that allows the pump to operate as a standard AODD or as a 2:1 high‑pressure unit up to 250 psi. Across the platform, diaphragm life can be up to five times longer than competitive pumps, and overall efficiency is significantly improved compared to traditional AODDs.

Fluid Compatibility

The 1050 Series supports a wide range of wetted materials including Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Hastelloy, Polypropylene, Conductive Polypropylene, and PVDF. Elastomer options include Buna‑N, Santoprene, Geolast, PTFE, FKM, and Polychloroprene. This allows the pumps to handle chemicals, solvents, slurries, abrasive fluids, and shear‑sensitive materials. The electric 1050e is well‑suited for applications requiring smooth flow, controlled speed, or reduced compressed‑air usage, while the 1050HP is designed for applications requiring elevated discharge pressure without sacrificing flow.

Fluid Ports

Metal models (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Hastelloy) use 1 in. NPT(F) or 1 in. BSPT(F) connections, with stainless steel center‑flange options available in 1 in. ANSI/DIN raised‑face flanges. Plastic models (Polypropylene, Conductive Polypropylene, PVDF) use 1 in. ANSI/DIN raised‑face flanges. Manifolds can be reversed to change inlet/outlet orientation, and unused ports are plugged where applicable.

Air & Drive System

Pneumatic models use a modular, lube‑free air valve with externally serviceable, spring‑loaded pilot valves for fast changeover and reduced pulsation. The 1050HP includes a selectable low‑pressure/high‑pressure mode that reduces air consumption when high pressure is not required. The 1050e uses an electric motor with an air‑charged diaphragm drive, providing smooth flow, accurate speed control, and energy savings compared to pneumatic operation. Motor options include AC, ATEX, explosion‑proof, BLDC, NEMA, and IEC configurations.

Mounting & Orientation

Install the pump horizontally with the feet supporting the base. Maintain clear access to the air inlet, fluid ports, and service points. Avoid vertical or wall mounting. Pneumatic models require clean, dry air sized appropriately for the desired flow and pressure. Electric models require proper motor ventilation and electrical clearance.

Grounding

Grounding is required only in hazardous, flammable, or static‑sensitive environments. Metal pumps include a grounding screw for static discharge, while plastic pumps require grounding only when static buildup is a risk. Air and fluid hoses should be grounded when grounding is used. Electric models follow standard motor grounding practices per UL/CE requirements.

Applications

The Husky 1050 Series is suitable for chemical transfer, coatings, inks, solvents, wastewater, slurries, and general industrial fluids. The 1050e is ideal for shear‑sensitive materials, metering, and facilities reducing compressed‑air usage. The 1050HP supports high‑pressure applications such as filter press feed, long hose runs, and high‑pressure spray systems. All variants are available in ATEX‑compliant configurations for hazardous environments.
