ABB VHS Series
ABB Vertical Hollow Shaft (VHS) motors are NEMA Premium® efficient motors designed specifically for deep well vertical turbine pump applications. The series features a heavy duty cast iron construction, hollow shaft design for direct pump coupling, and inverter-duty capability for demanding pumping systems. Available in Weather Protected Type 1 (WP1) construction, the VHS product line covers 15 to 500 HP with thrust capacities up to 16,480 lbs.
Features
- Designed for deep well vertical turbine pumps with top-mounted coupling for convenient access during shaft and impeller maintenance. Drop-in design fits standard NEMA frame vertical hollow shaft motors.
- Heavy duty cast iron construction with Class F insulation, Class B temperature rise, 120V space heaters, PTC thermistors, and oversized conduit box for long service life in demanding environments.
- Non-reverse ratchet (NRR) design helps prevent reverse rotation, while larger frame motors utilize enhanced thrust bearing arrangements for high thrust applications.
- Suitable for part winding start, Wye-Delta start, and inverter-duty operation per NEMA MG1. UL listed construction.
