Summit 2196 ANSI Chemical Process Pump

Overview

The Summit 2196 is a fully ANSI B73.1 compliant chemical‑process pump designed for standard‑flow industrial applications. It features an open impeller, end‑suction / top‑discharge configuration, and a back‑pull‑out rotating assembly that allows maintenance without disturbing piping or alignment. The 2196 shares a unified mechanical platform with the 2196LF and 2196R, providing interchangeable power ends, shaft kits, and rebuild components.

Hydraulics

The 2196 covers the full ANSI hydraulic envelope with flows up to 3,000 GPM and heads up to 730 ft. It delivers high efficiency and stable performance across the curve. Enclosed impellers are available in full and cut trims to match system requirements.

Materials

Wetted components are available in Ductile Iron, 316 Stainless Steel, CD4MCu, Alloy‑20, and Hastelloy C. Sleeve options include standard 316 stainless or NCB/HMC hard‑coated sleeves for abrasive or seal‑sensitive service. All materials align with ANSI standards and match Goulds 3196 compatibility.

Mechanical Design

The 2196 uses a threaded open impeller, confined casing gasket, integral foot support, and self‑venting casing. External impeller adjustment maintains performance as clearances change. The stuffing box or seal chamber supports packing, single seals, double seals, and common API piping plans.

Power Ends

Summit power ends include SKF bearings, labyrinth isolators, a magnetic drain plug, enlarged oil reservoir, and sight glass. STO, MTO, LTO, and XLO frames are available and fully interchangeable with Goulds 3196 and PumpWorks PWA equivalents. The optional Forever Frame™ provides a 316 stainless steel power end for corrosive environments.

Serviceability

The back‑pull‑out design removes the entire rotating assembly as a single unit, simplifying rebuilds and reducing downtime. Shaft kits, power ends, and rotating assemblies are available for all frame sizes.

Applications

Chemical transfer, solvents, acids, caustics, light slurries, plant utilities, water systems, food & beverage (non‑sanitary), pulp & paper, and general industrial process service.
