Standard PWA ANSI Process Pumps Information

Features & Benefits

1. Dimensional Interchangeability

The "ANSI" designation means that a PumpWorks PWA will fit exactly where a Goulds 3196, Durco Mark 3, or Peerless 8196 once sat. The Benefit: Customers don't have to change their piping, baseplate, or motor couplings. It is a "drop-in" replacement that minimizes installation costs.

    2. The "Carbon Steel Standard" Upgrade

This is the most critical piece of information for a buyer. Most industry-standard ANSI pumps default to Ductile Iron. PumpWorks defaults to ASTM A216 Grade WCB Carbon Steel.

Why it matters: Carbon steel is not brittle. It handles thermal shock and physical impact far better than iron.

Repairability: If a carbon steel casing is damaged, it can be welded. Ductile iron usually has to be scrapped.

Price: PumpWorks offers this material upgrade at no additional cost compared to competitors' iron prices.

    3. Power End Reliability

The Power End (the bearing housing and shaft) is the most common point of failure in process pumps. PumpWorks includes several standard features to combat this:

Finned Bearing Frame: Provides superior heat dissipation, keeping oil temperatures lower.

316L Stainless Steel Shaft: Standard on every pump (replacing the rust-prone 4140 steel used by others).

5-Year Unconditional Warranty: This is industry-leading. It covers the power frame regardless of the cause of failure, which is a massive safety net for the maintenance budget.

    4. Customization Options (Tailored to the Process)

When ordering a PWA, customers aren't stuck with a "one size fits all" configuration. They can specify:

Seal Chambers: Choose from Standard, Tapered, or Big Bore depending on the mechanical seal being used.

Flange Ratings: Choose between Class 150# or Class 300# (for higher pressure applications).

Materials: While Carbon Steel is standard, they can order 316SS, CD4MCu, Hastelloy, or Titanium for aggressive chemicals.

    5. Use of "ePOD" Technology

Customers should know they don't have to wait days for a factory quote.

Electronic Pump On Demand (ePOD): This is PumpWorks' web-based selection software. A customer can input their required flow (GPM) and head (Feet), and the software will:

    1. Select the most efficient pump size.
    2. Generate a performance curve.
    3. Provide a comprehensive data sheet instantly.
