The XP‑SKX Series is designed for applications that require both solids reduction and corrosion resistance in hazardous locations. Its shredding system reduces solids before pumping, improving reliability and reducing maintenance in systems prone to clogging.

Construction and Materials

The XP‑SKX Series features a cast 316 stainless steel hydraulic section, including the volute, impeller, and suction cover. This provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard cast iron shredder pumps.

The motor housing is constructed from cast iron with an epoxy coating to ensure structural durability. Tungsten carbide cutting elements enhance wear resistance and extend service life in abrasive conditions.

Hydraulic and Pump Design

The XP‑SKX Series uses a shredder-style hydraulic design that integrates cutting and pumping functions. This allows solids to be broken down before passing through the pump, reducing clogging risk.

Motor and Operational Design

The XP‑SKX Series is equipped with FM‑approved explosion‑proof motors suitable for hazardous environments. Both 2‑pole (higher speed) and 4‑pole (higher torque) configurations are available depending on model. Motors are rated for continuous duty and use Class F insulation to withstand demanding operating conditions.

Sealing and Protection Systems

The XP‑SKX Series incorporates a dual mechanical seal system in an oil‑filled chamber, with silicon carbide seal faces for durability. This design provides protection against leakage and abrasive wear. Seal Minder® monitors moisture in the seal chamber and provides early warning of seal failure. Thermal sensors embedded in the motor windings automatically shut down the pump if overheating occurs.
