The XP‑SK Series is designed for applications requiring aggressive solids reduction combined with explosion-proof operation. The integrated shredding system breaks down solids before they enter the hydraulic passage, allowing the pump to handle challenging materials while reducing clogging and maintenance.

Construction and Materials

The XP‑SK Series is constructed with a cast iron motor housing and ductile iron hydraulic components to provide durability and strength in harsh environments. The impeller incorporates tungsten carbide cutting elements, significantly improving wear resistance and cutting efficiency. Stainless steel hardware and robust elastomers contribute to long service life.

Hydraulic and Pump Design

The XP‑SK Series uses a solids-handling shredder hydraulic design that incorporates a cutting mechanism directly into the impeller system. This allows the pump to reduce solids and pass them efficiently through the discharge.

Smaller models such as the XP‑SK15C and XP‑SK22C are designed for moderate flow and shredding duties, while mid-range models like the XP‑SK37C and XP‑SK55C provide increased capacity. Larger models such as the XP‑SK75C, XP‑SK110C, and XP‑SK150C deliver high flow rates up to approximately 874 GPM and head performance exceeding 100 feet, supporting demanding industrial applications.

Motor and Operational Design

The XP‑SK Series is equipped with FM‑approved explosion‑proof motors suitable for Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D hazardous environments. Both 2‑pole and 4‑pole motor configurations are available, providing flexibility between higher flow or higher torque requirements.

Motors are rated for continuous duty and include Class F insulation. Embedded thermal sensors protect against overheating by shutting down the pump when temperature limits are exceeded.

Sealing and Protection Systems

The XP‑SK Series utilizes a dual mechanical seal system operating in an oil-filled chamber to protect against leakage and abrasive wear. Seal faces include combinations of carbon and silicon carbide materials for durability.

A Seal Minder® system is integrated to monitor moisture within the seal chamber and provide early warning of seal failure. Thermal protection is also built into the motor windings to prevent damage from overheating.
