The XP‑JX Series is designed for use in hazardous environments where explosion protection, corrosion resistance, and reliable dewatering performance are required. The combination of an FM‑approved explosion‑proof motor and stainless steel construction allows the pump to operate safely in classified locations while handling aggressive fluids with light solids content.

Construction and Materials

The XP‑JX Series utilizes a cast 316 stainless steel wet end, including the impeller and volute, providing excellent resistance to corrosion. The motor housing is constructed from cast iron with an industrial epoxy coating to protect against external exposure. Stainless steel hardware and FKM elastomers are used throughout the pump to ensure durability and compatibility with a wide range of fluids.

The XP‑JX Series uses a dewatering-style hydraulic design optimized for moving water efficiently while handling small solids. The pump is capable of passing solids up to approximately 3/8 inch, making it suitable for industrial effluent and sump applications where fine debris is present but heavy solids are not expected. The side discharge configuration supports efficient installation in confined spaces and dewatering setups.

The XP‑JX Series is equipped with an FM‑approved explosion‑proof motor designed for Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D hazardous environments. The motor operates at approximately 3450 RPM using a 2‑pole configuration to deliver higher head performance. It is rated for continuous duty and includes Class F insulation for durability under demanding operating conditions.

Embedded thermal protection is provided through dual temperature sensors installed in the motor windings, which automatically interrupt operation if abnormal temperatures are detected and reset once conditions return to safe levels.

Sealing and Protection Systems

The XP‑JX Series incorporates a robust sealing system consisting of two mechanical seals operating in an oil‑filled chamber, along with an additional lip seal to provide redundancy. Silicon carbide and carbon seal faces ensure durability in abrasive and corrosive conditions. A Seal Minder® moisture detection system is available to provide early warning of seal failure, helping prevent damage and reduce unplanned downtime.
